聯軸器是指聯接兩軸或軸與回轉件,在傳遞運動和動力過程中一同回轉,在正常情況下不脫開的一種裝置。有時也作為一種安全裝置用來防止被聯接機件承受過大的載荷,起到過載保護的作用。聯軸器又稱聯軸節。用來將不同機構中的主動軸和從動軸牢固地聯接起來一同旋轉,并傳遞運動和扭矩的機械部件。有時也用以聯接軸與其他零件(如齒輪、帶輪等)。常由兩半合成,分別用鍵或緊配合等聯接,緊固在兩軸端,再通過某種方式將兩半聯接起來。聯軸器可兼有補償兩軸之間由于制造安裝不精確、工作時的變形或熱膨脹等原因所發生的偏移(包括軸向偏移、徑向偏移、角偏移或綜合偏移);以及緩和沖擊、吸振。剛性聯軸器不具有緩沖性和補償兩軸線相對位移的能力,要求兩軸嚴格對中,但此類聯軸器結構簡單,制造成本較低維便,能保證兩軸有較高的對中性,傳遞轉矩較大,應用廣泛。常用的有凸緣聯軸器、套筒聯軸器和夾殼聯軸器等.撓性聯軸器又可分為無彈性元件撓性聯軸器和有彈性元件撓性聯軸器,前一類只具有補償兩軸線相對位移的能力,但不能緩沖減振,常見的有滑塊聯軸器、齒式聯軸器、萬向聯軸器和鏈條聯軸器等;后一類因含有彈性元件,除具有補償兩軸線相對位移的能力外,還具有緩沖和減振作用,但傳遞的轉矩因受到彈性元件強度的限制,一般不及無彈性元件撓性聯軸器。
